UNAPENDWA Children's Home is a charitable organization based in Kampala, Uganda, dedicated to providing shelter, education, healthcare, and support to vulnerable children. Our mission is to nurture young minds and create opportunities for a brighter future.

UNAPENDWA Children's Home was founded in 2010 by Akello Imelda with a vision to help vulnerable children in Kampala. Since then, we've grown to serve over 200 children and expanded our programs significantly.

We are located in Kampala, Uganda. Our main facility includes living quarters, classrooms, a library, playground areas, and healthcare facilities. We welcome visitors by appointment Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM.

We currently serve over 200 children ranging from ages 5 to 18. Our capacity continues to grow as we expand our facilities and programs to reach more children in need.

You can apply to volunteer through our volunteer page or contact us directly. We offer various opportunities including education support, healthcare assistance, arts and recreation, mentorship, computer skills teaching, and general support. Minimum commitment is 4 hours per week.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, commit to regular volunteering (minimum 4 hours per week), have a passion for working with children, possess good communication skills, be able to work in a team environment, and pass background check clearance.

Yes, we welcome international volunteers! However, you must arrange your own visa, accommodation, and travel expenses. We recommend a minimum commitment of 3 months for international volunteers to ensure meaningful impact.

We particularly need volunteers with skills in education, healthcare, arts, sports, computer literacy, and mentorship. However, the most important requirement is a genuine desire to help children and make a positive impact.

You can donate through our online donation form, set up monthly recurring donations, sponsor a specific child, make in-kind donations, or explore corporate partnership opportunities. We accept various payment methods including credit cards, bank transfers, and mobile money.

We accept educational supplies (books, pencils, notebooks), clothing and shoes for children, non-perishable food items, healthcare supplies and medications, sports equipment and toys, and computer equipment and learning devices. Please contact us to arrange donation delivery.

UNAPENDWA Children's Home is a registered charitable organization. Donations may be tax-deductible depending on your country's tax laws. We provide receipts for all donations. Please consult with your tax advisor for specific guidance.

Your donation directly supports our programs: 40% for education and learning materials, 30% for healthcare and nutrition, 20% for facility maintenance and operations, and 10% for administrative costs. We provide annual reports showing how donations are utilized.

Child sponsorship involves monthly financial support for a specific child's education, healthcare, and general wellbeing. Sponsors receive regular updates, photos, and can communicate with their sponsored child. The cost is typically $50-100 per month depending on the child's needs.

Yes, you can choose to sponsor a specific child based on age, gender, or special needs. We provide profiles of children awaiting sponsorship. However, you can also choose to sponsor the child with the most urgent need.

Yes, sponsors are welcome to visit their sponsored children with advance notice. We recommend scheduling visits during our visiting hours and coordinating with our staff to ensure a meaningful and appropriate visit.

When a sponsored child completes our program or leaves for other reasons, we'll notify you and offer the opportunity to sponsor another child. We'll also share updates about the child's progress and future plans.

We offer comprehensive educational programs including formal schooling support, homework assistance, tutoring, library access, computer skills training, and special education support. We also provide school supplies, uniforms, and cover school fees.

Yes, we provide regular health check-ups, vaccinations, nutrition programs, and medical care. We have partnerships with local hospitals and clinics and maintain an on-site infirmary for basic medical needs.
